NATIONAL QUALITY FRAMEWORK

CURRICULUM

BUILDING WATERFALLS

The National Quality Framework (NQF) for early childhood education and care was agreed by all Australian governments to get better educational and development outcomes for children using education and care services.  Implementation of the NQF is guided by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

The NQF encourages services to provide a high quality and consistent standard of early childhood education and care across Australia. The NQF includes:

  • A national legislative framework that consists of the Education and Care Services National Law and Education and Care Services National Regulations
  • A National Quality Standard (NQS)
  • An assessment and rating system
  • A regulatory authority in each state and territory who have responsibility for the approval, monitoring and quality assessment of services.

Services are assessed and rated against seven quality areas, 18 standards and 58 elements that make up the NQS.  NQS standards cover children's development and education as well as relationships with families, educator qualifications, and the service environment.

We are delighted that in 2014 and again in 2019 Harty Street C&K achieved an 'exceeding the national quality standards' rating under the National Quality Framework (NQF).
